The vintage and classic sailing yacht meeting

Vintage yacht, yachts to love. The title of the tenth edition of the Imperia Regatta summarises the passion that has been the driving force behind one of the sector's most prestigious European events since 1986. The passion of ship owners, skippers and crews who never miss this appointment in September; the passion of the numerous spectators who line the harbour at Porto Maurizio to breath the enthralling, sporting party atmosphere. The pride and joy of the 10th Vintage and Classic Sailing Yacht Meeting will he the exhibition dedicated to the history of Sparkman & Stephens yachts, with the eagerly awaited presence of Olin Stephens, the ninety-year old star of yachting history.

Imperia

Imperia, capital of the "Rivieria di Ponente", was formed in 1923, from the unification of two boroughs with centuries of contrasting history. Oneglia, of Savoy, with its streets, portico-adorned squares and baroque buildings, and Porto Maurizio, Genoese, with its lanes, quarters and typically Ligurian squares. But the richness of Imperia doesn’t end with the landscape and the architecture, The particular climate of the Riviera, the colours, the scent of flowers, the authentic flavours of Mediterranean cuisine, have long attracted and conquered tourists and travellers.

Historical cultural itineraries

The convent of St. Claire, built in 1300, the eighteenth century collegiate church of St. John the Baptist, the neo-classical cathedral of St. Maurice, the Parasio and Villa Grock are just some of the attractions which bear witness to the richness of this town, birthplace of Andrea Doria and Edmondo de Amicis. Also worth a visit are the Civic Picture-gallery, the International Naval Museum and Olive Museum.
