Assonautica Provinciale of Imperia was established in October 1975, promoted by the local Chamber of Commerce that, in this way, met the invitation, coming from Assonautica Nazionale, to form an association that could operate to help the development of nautical tourism in the Province of Imperia.
In the Province of its competence, Assonautica Provinciale of Imperia carries out all those activities necessary for developing yachting, promoting nautical tourism and all economic, productive and social activities correlated to it. It co-operates in qualifying and improving the activities of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Handicrafts and Agriculture of Imperia in the nautical tourism sector.

Main initiatives
Vintage Sails Meeting: together with the Veteran Boat Rally of Porto Cervo, with which it is twinned, it represents the most important event dedicated to Vintage Yachts taking place in the Mediterranean Area. More than one hundred boats representing the history of the world yachting take part in it.
International Sanremo Yacht Meeting: it is an event taking place in the largest tourist harbour of the Mediterranean Sea (Portosole - Sanremo). The most prestigious charter yachts and the main brokers, many of them coming from the USA, take part in it.

Services
Meteocost. It is a coastal meteorological observation service, operating since 1985, concerning the Ligurian Sea and the upper Tyrrhenian Sea. The service consists in the availability of a phone number (39.0184.508999) with automatic through line transmitting the observations collected at the various points of Liguria, French Riviera, Corsica and upper Tyrrhenian Sea. Observations are updated three times a day.
Many harbour structures receive observations by means of a report sent by fax to subscribers. Starting from the end of 2001, "Meteocost" service is on line too. The updated meteorological report can be consulted at the site of Assonautica: www.assonautica-im.it. The first part is public and open to anyone who enters the site; on the contrary, a subscription must be taken on to acquire the codes necessary to enter and consult the private section.

Participation
In 1981, Assonautica of Imperia contributed its structures installed in the tourist harbour of Imperia Porto Maurizio to a service company established by the Municipality of Imperia. Assonautica holds 14% approx. of the capital of this company, named Imperia Mare S.p.A., and it is present in its board of directors with two representatives. The Municipality of Imperia and the Chamber of Commerce are the other main shareholders.
